LOL.....that's one of those antenna garlands. that the dealerships sometimes put on to show some pizzaz.....i was wondering what it was for a while too.....i first thought it was something hanging from his head.

I noticed too on the inner fender style filters, they sit awful close to the sheet metal flange of the filter, vibration may be able to "saw" them, like i said in my earlier post, I'm Gonna inspect mine.

I just peaked underneath at my BBK, it doesn't look like it's near anything. What side of the filter was that cut on when you pulled it out??

That definitely doesn't look like it's from a vibration. More of a collision...

Anyways, just for your safety, it will be a good idea to have the car inspected mechanically, no need to look up the car fax unless you feel there is a need.

Like I said before, my air filter in my GT looked the same..only because it was in a bad wreck.

Yep, I crawled under my car and re-examined the filter, all is good, there is no way it could vibrate/saw the filter (at least on my car)
I agree with Dan, collision.

the fuzzy antenna is infact red garland i put on it for a christmas parade last year same for on my head, i don't reccomend going over 25mph with that much drag on your antenna either, just in case you try it at home

and the piece that was stuck in the filter was in fact the same piece that holds the filter cone together.
