fair price for intake install???
Well after nearly 150,000 miles my intake is cracking near the T Stat housing. Missed the TSB free fix by about 6 months and Ford wants no part of it. Anywho I got an intake and gaskets for around 200.00. Stealer dealer wants about 320 dollars for full install. What do you think should I pay it or just start ripping it apart myself?? I've never removed the fuel rails before and I am alittle leary about that. I do have a toque wrench and all tools. My guess is its worth the 300 or so. WHADDAYATHINK???

I did mine in about 5-6 hours; that was on christmas eve day so I was dicking around with other stuff as well. It's really not all that difficult, if you have an specific questions PM me.

Take your time, and do it yourself, I haven't done it on a Mustang, but I did it on a 4.6 Crown Vic in a Saturday afternoon (I think the mustang looks easier to do). The fuel rails can be released by unbolted and wiggled off the injector tips or buy a fuel line disconnect tool and break the lines and lift the rails with the intake. Either way, buy a new set of 16 injector O rings, with those miles I wouldn't chance re-using them.

i didn't even think about the o rings. The fuel injectors just pop/snap/wiggle in right?? Also I suspect I will have anti freeze everywhere, right?? How about torquing the manifold down, just follow the sequence and the torque ratings I guess.

Yep, as far as coolant everywhere; not at all. Just drain the radiator before you do it.
Also there is a fuel cutoff in the trunk where the drivers side tailight connects, pull that switch then start the car, just let it run until the car stalls. This will clear all of the fuel out of the rails so you dont get fuel everywhere when you take them off.

Well the old manifold is out. In 1 hour and 35 minutes I might add. Not bad. I left my injectors and rails intact and just moved them over as a ubit to the passenger side. Now hopefully the new one ships fast.
