4.6L Gone soon, no more
"There was a lot of talk today in the automotive world. At the Romeo engine plant today CEO Chairman Bill Ford and other executives from SVT, Shelby Automotive, Roush Performance, and even some From General Motors. ................ "There are going to be a lot of newer, faster cars in the not-so-distant future. It will be harder to compete with all of these dam custom Hondas and what not" At the Romeo Engine plat they discussed plans for future mustangs. 4.0, 4.6, 5.0, 5.4, 5.8 engines may all be in the line up for the future. "With today’s technology, we can get the same power out of a small engine, and then we could of yesteryears big blocks." The plans for the line up will include a 4.0 for the base mustang, a 4.0 Supercharged(Shelby Automotive/Roush Performance), 4.6 for base GT, 5.4 for Premium GT's, the 5.4 engine might also be used for a new series of Mach 1 Mustangs, and then there’s the supercharged 5.4 that will be in the GT500(SVT, Shelby Automotive). The Ford GT might be sporting a new 5.8L, or for an option, a concept 427(like the 427R made by Roush). There has been talk of loosing the 4.6L 3v all together. "You can get the same gas mileage from our newer engines if that’s what there (consumers) are worried about"...."
The 4.6L won’t be around soon, that’s the talk around Detroit.

i didnt post it 2x, i posted this saying that there getting rid of the 4.6. i think its a good thing, were running against 5.7's, 6.0's, and 6.1's. Ford has the Cobra yeah, but its just supercharged, the compitition has just power, they dont need blowers. Another good thing fords doing is working together with GM, i would rather see that, then Dodge. There the only ones doing good right now.

so is ford giving up on the mod motors or are they just updating the mod motor idea?

4.6 is just a number. It doesn't matter what the displacement is, it's still the same mod parts (more or less) [8D]
