I dont know if its electronically limited or not, but he wont be able to top it out. Theres no way. He would be aerodynamically limited some where in the 140's unless hes got some extra power. Im saying if hes got enough power, it would pull to the 160's.

He will have a little higher top end now then he did before the gears.. It'll be in 5th instead of in 4th though. Thats the big misconception, that they kill your top end. With steeper gears you can accelerate in 5th now where before it would only hold speed at higher speeds... but you run out of 4th gear much quicker.

And 5th doesnt exactly pull the hardest ... .68:1 on the T45's isnt exactly a power gear [&:]

Hmm...I never knew that the T45 was an automatic transmission with 5 gears....

Come on man...read the post...

I can't find the part where he said it was an auto. The T45 is really close to the T56, minus a gear. Basically they are designed the same though. With a stock rear end, 5th gear is overdrive on 90% of standard transmissions. As HaV said, 5th gear would not normally pull. Once you change the rear end it changes the final drive ratio, and gives the car a little bit of pull in 5th, allowing the car to accelerate while in 5th, increasing a car's top speed. Of course, you will still be friction/drag limited, but you will notice a difference in top speed. What he was trying to explain is everyone, or better, many people think that if you install gears such as 3.73s or 4.10s, etc, that it cuts down your top speed because it brings your power to the low side, as in takeoff. You may run through 1-4 quicker with better acceleration, but you will also have acceleration in 5th gear as well, which you usually don't have with a stock vehicle.

I understand that gears will allow you to accelerate more in 5th than usual, but what I was talking about was this...

Maybe it didn't say auto before since he edited the post-- check out the first post. He could have edited the auto part afterwards.

I wasn't arguing, It was just a thought. Yeah, I must have missed the time part. OOPS
