Default i crossed over!

hi guys and gals. i'm lookin for some info. I used to be a GM guy. 2000 formula w/ headers 456 gears, blah blah blah. I used to love racing mustangs. but GM vs Ford isn't any fun anymore. GM backed out and now i'm racing more and more imports. I sold the formula and bought myself a 2004 Mustang GT. It is stock w/ a 5spd and i'd like to know if it is possible to get headers, gears (4.10), CAI and exhaust for 1600 bucks. I pretty much know for sure i'm gettin the Ford gears but which headers CAI and exhaust is the best bang for my buck. thanks for any info. i appreciate it.

CAI is worthless. You can get headers and have them installed for less than $900 total, you will need a short mid-pipe though. If you plan to stay NA, I suggest 4.30 gears. Gears will run you around $200-250 dependin gon where you buy and how much the bearing kit costs. Install should be less than $300 from a GOOD shop.

Were you aware, without a headswap or supercharger/turbo, you won't see anymore than 280RWHP with full bolt-ons, including cams?

i'm going to stay NA. after i install headers, whats the quartermile time difference going to be between stock gears and 4.30 gears? i'd like to run in the low 13s. will this car at all run low 13s w/ gears, headers, exhaust and tuner work?

Not without tires... if you get the 4.30 gears youll need tires to take full advantage of the gearing. With some drag radials... i think you can run middle low 13's if you're a good driver.

With Headers, 4.30's, TB & Plenum with some tires and good driving, you can see low 13's, but realisticly expect mid 13's. Cam's will help get you down to low 13's without having to drive like superman every run.

Wouldn't superior suspension (upper/lower control arms, proper setup with struts/shocks/springs/whatever, some stiffening, etc..) end up getting you lower times than trying to add more power?

As in, exhaust, gears, cams, tb/plenum, suspension, tires.. high 12's??

I mean, that's more expensive, too, but it should be entirely possible to run 12's n/a without anything so radical that it's not street-able.. no?

Thats sorry. Thats why I am trading in my 03 GT for a 03/04 Cobra around fall time. Nothing wrong with the GT's though. Its a great car but something about the looks and the potential of them Terminators.
