RE: slp 330hp performance pac
ORIGINAL: 00gtsilver
Slp has two pacs for the 05-06 mustang one is 350hp and one is 330hp. The one for the 99-04 is 330hp. This is word for word from the catalog they sent me
"SLP has an easy bolt-on way to make more power from your 1999-04 SOHC Mustang GT. With our exhaust components, pulley, air filter, thermostat and the DiabloSport Predator, we guarantee you'll make 330 housepower."
How can they guarantee it if the car is not stock? They don't say anywhere that you have to swap heads or supercharge the car first.

RE: slp 330hp performance pac
from SLP's website:
Thermostat, 160º 1996-04 4.6 SOHC Mustang
These low-temp thermostats dramatically reduce your engine's operating temperatures, improving performance and extending component longevity. They're available in 160° and 180° versions and are compatible with all 1996-2003 SOHC applications. You won't find a lower price anywhere!

RE: slp 330hp performance pac
a lower degree thermostat is benificial. it lowers the temerature at which it closes. so if its above 160 degrees, then its open and coolant is flowing. since it has a lower degree setting, its open more than a 180

RE: slp 330hp performance pac
I have the complete SLP 330 HP Performance Pac on my '02 GT.
Here are the answers to your questions and some others you may have but not asked:
[sm=closed.gif]***The 330 HP is actually FLYWHEEL HP!***[sm=burnout.gif]
* The long-tube headers have 1 5/8 inch primaries and are ceramic coated (inside & out)
* The X-pipes are true crossover pipes (not a clamshell design)
* The X-pipes are available with high-flow cats or race pipes (swap takes about 30 minutes)
* The exhaust (stainless steel) is 2 1/2 inches with 3 1/2 inch stainless steel exhaust tips (polished)
* DiabloSport Predator comes with a custom SLP tune installed (no guesswork)
* Underdrive Pulleys consist of: alternator, water pump, and SFI-spec 18.1 crankshaft/damper pulleys
* 160 degree thermostat (used to lower combustion temps in the chamber and to prevent burned valves)
* K & N air filter
I live in NJ (30 minutes from SLP) and I purchased my components from SLP HQ. I have had the complete system on my car for over a year now and am very pleased with the performance gains and the sound of the car. (The staff at SLP are very friendly. They let me listen to their test car which is an '03 GT 5 speed (this is the car they used for their soundclips at www.SLPonline.com) I was originally only going there to purchase the catback with the LM1 that day but after hearing what their car sounded like I purchased the entire system! (I had to have it!) The soundclips don't do that system justice. [sm=trust_me.gif] My car sounds just like their test car and she turns heads especially at WOT.
As far as installation cost and time are concerned: I paid $600 to have the complete system installed by a performance shop (you definately need a lift for this install). It took around 8 hours to install the exhaust system from the headers back. The pulleys take less than an hour. You can install the SLP tune in about 15 minutes.
As far as true HP gains are concerned I have never had my car on a dyno but I can tell you that there is a big difference in both performance and street manners. The car runs a lot smoother thanks to the SLP tune and overall is a much better performer. I couldn't be happier with the results.
** 5.0 MUSTANG & SUPER FORDS (May 2006 pages 80-85 has a complete article on the 330 HP Performance Pac with the LM2 exhaust) My car has the same setup except I have the original LM1's on my '02 GT - LM1's sound better in my opinion - much LOUDER!). Their '02 went from 219.21 RWHP to 253.53 RWHP and torque increase from 244.87 lb-ft to 281.52. Their dyno runs were done on a Dynapack direct-to-hub dyno whereas SLP uses a Superflow roller dyno. (SLP's test car was an '03 stock 5 speed GT and 5.0 MUSTANG & SUPER FORDS was an '02 GT with 4.10's.)
* Note: SLP's 03 GT was completey stock when they installed the system. It actually belongs to an employee of SLP. (I've seen the car with the hood up.)
* Keep in mind this is the company that is responsible for the late model SS Camaros and WS6 Trans Ams. They know what they're doing. (My next car is going to be a C-5 Vette and I guarantee it will have SLP components on it!)
* Before anyone asks: No I DO NOT work for SLP nor am I being SPONSORED! I'm just a very satisfied customer! [8D]
I'll have pictures up soon to show what the system looks like on the car. Hope this helps. If you have any questions let me know.
