Default 4 vavle swap

so i go to school, and we just got a new mach 1 engine in the other day alright. and you know i have this spare ported and polished s/c laying around so i asked my teacher if i could swap heads. i have the sohc pi heads on my 99 right now. hes seriously thinking about just giving them to me he has to make some calls tho. but heres the thing could i just swap heads and throw a new head gasket on or do i need a lot of **** to? is it a direct boly up or do i need the inake man, throttle body and all thats stuff. its the same coil on plug design but i dunno. whatcha think here

i dont' know from experience but i've heard that it's a PITA to swap to the 4v.

i would love to but its a donated engine so i think its illegal but i dont think heads are a big deal. but if i can get these heads for free i think the pita it would b would b worth it

Here the thing. I havent done this but I know that you are going to need the computer, new timing chains, sprockets, intake, Headers?. It is more trouble than its worth. My 03 gt with boltons and exhaust makes the 305 HP that the Mach's make. I would stick with what you have. It would be much easier just to get the whole motor with the computer.

well with the heads i would take the sprockets and chains and im sure i could manage the intake, the computer would b the only thing different. if i actually do need it and just not a re tune or something.

Yeah you will need the computer because the SOHC one was not designed for two more cams. The best bet would be to call Mustang part specialties and see if they have a wrecked mach or 99-02 cobra and get one from them. There is something else that I know I am forgetting. With the intake you will need the throttle body and I belive not sure but you may need a new throttle cable because I dont think they are the same from GT to mach/cobra! Once you start making all these changes it really becomes a pain. I wouldnt doubt that eventually you will have to go internally like a cobra crank/rods/pistons and such.

i wasnt planning on throwin the s/c on till i make some money for those rods and pistons, and i figured just a 5.4 crank to increase the stroke. get some forged pistons but thats neither here or there. i would love this as a project. its def not past me to be able to do. i just gotta think it through

hey nick, what bolt ons do you have. what are you favorite producers i should say because 305 is pretty dang good
