hey man my buddy had the same problem changed the injectors and the pugs wires everything and didnt fix it..I told him it was the mass air flow sensor but he didnt listen well 700 some dollars later he replaced the maf and fixed..so if it bogging around 3.5 or 4000 id say its your maf..good luck

Valvoline Synth Power...that's the fuel system treatment that I used.
I will check the MAF sensor and the oxygen sensors...sounds like a good excuse to tell the wife to get an aftermarket intake.
Thanks!

just spray the maf element with some brake cleaner, let it try out and reinstall it. do this especially if you have a K&N filter, the oil from the filter throws the readings off sometimes.

My buddy has a 96 and his seemed to do the same thing, it was fine unless he got in it then it would just bog. He replaced plugs wires and many fuel filters, we kept thinking it was just running out of gas at higher RPMs. Later we found a leak in the intake gasket, since coolent runs through them this was letting water run down on top of a plug, it would get wet and make it bog..... might wanna check it.. just a thought...

I just recently bought a 98 GT as well... It was doing something very similar. if i floored it, around 3k it would feel like i let off the gas pedal for a bit and then it would push forward again. What I did was this. Fuel system cleaner, and put 91 octane gas in it. I think it was the fuel system cleaner. i've alternated between 87 and 91 and never had the problem again. The only reason i'm hesitant on saying it wasn't fuel as well (maybe they had 85 in it?) is because i put the cleaner and 91 octane gas in at the same time, and the first time i gunned it out of the gas station parking lot it wasn't doing it any longer. Not once have i noticed it again.

Octane may do it if the motor is knocking and the computer is retarding the timing to protect the motor.
The cleaner may have done it too.
This is why I only screw with one thing at a time

I was having a similar problem with my 98 Mustang GT. The engine would bog at WOT around 3k rpms. I changed my oxygen sensors, and the problem was solved. If you can, you should swap the front O2 sensors out with some good Denso sensors.
