Oil Filter

RE: Oil Filter
on many of my family's family cars, we have always ran FRAM filters and in those cars the engines always outlast the car itself.
However on my mustang I run a wix filter, $7 and it works great. I change it every oil change

RE: Oil Filter
A bunch of independant firms have done a buttload of testing on Fram's, and the generic shells, and found the filter element to not filter enough contamenants. I don't recall the site itself, but I'm sure if you google it, you'll find it...
I use Mobil-1, even after I got a bad filter from them (the lip around the edge of the housing was slightly bent, and I lost a lot of my oil about a day later.) Mobil Oil as well...

Actually fram isnt a piece of crap. In Fram's case the filter just works TOO well. It blocks out 98%. It does a great job of filtering however it filters too much and will give you lower oil pressure.
You can get purolator at advance auto. I'm sure other stores carry it also. The reason why the PureOne is the best is because it actually has a small valve in the filter.
Edit: It will last the same as any other oil filter. You should change it every oil change.

Its hard to beat factory parts. If ford has to warranty motors if they blow, then the filter they design for it should be pretty good. I really like the motorcrafts because they have the Purolator PureOne internals and the don't seem to seize up like cheap filters do. That's my personal experience with them.
