Default H pipe help

I need help guys. I got the stock h off and the aftermarket somewhat on. I can smell its leaking but ive tighten everything as much as I can do. Do you think i should take it to a muffler shop and be like "i hit a speed bump and my exhaust system came loose please fix it and pay whatever they charge?" Or do you think i should go buy an air ratchet and just own the hell out of the thing. Also my passenger side muffler is hanging down really low.

I just had the same thing goin on. As for the leak there is a gasket between the manafold and the h pipe on the passenger side it is 8 bucks at a dealer. The muffler hanging low is because the muffler twisted and the h pipe was tighten just back off the bolts twist the muffler back into place and retighten.also is your tip off center on that side?

Yes, replace the gasket. I had the same problem.

As far as the muffler hanging down, loosen the clamps and realign everything. I didn't have a clearance issue with the mufflers but my passenger side tailpipe was vibrating against the frame until I adjusted it.

Check your driver side manifold studs. When I installed my H-pipe on my 2003 i discovered the studs had a shoulder on
them that would not let the H-pipe seat all the way down and I was having a leak there. After searching around for a solution
I found you can replace them with this kit from NAPA - Exhaust maniflod stud kit part # 600-1819.

My Napa did not have any in stock so I just used two 10mm X 1.50 X 30mm flanged head bolts I got at Pepboys for a couple
bucks. Now no more leaks.

No, the gasket between the manifold and the midpipe is a bit like a cone, in order to make a good fit. And it certainly looks like your pipe is not correctly adjusted. DON'T OVERTIGHTEN!!!! Overtightening can lead to bending the mating surfaces, and then you'll never get a proper fit.

The gasket I had to replace was on the passenger side and did not look anything like that. It was metal and more oval in shape. The edge around the gasket opening has a lip that fits in the groove of the passenger side of the midpipe.

I'm scouring the web looking for a pic and will post it if I find one.

The driver side of the midpipe has a flange and the driver-side manifold has a conical end on it so no gasket is needed on that side.

Try part # XR3Z-9450-AA at the Ford Dealership.

They printed out a schematic at the dealership parts counter. I paid $15 for mine but it sounds like others are getting it for anywhere between $5-$10. I guess I got jobbed. [:@]

I would've paid $30 for it cuz the leak sounded terrible.
