What manual trans to use with the 5.4 besize a T56 (if possible)
What do you think is more cose effective
What do you think is faster (for the money)

are you wanting a 4.6 cobra motor or a 2v? the navi motor is a 4v, which has alot of potential. its been done before also. i wouldnt recomend a t56 due to cost, a t45 will do you fine

of course i "WANT" a 4v but a 2v is more cost effective what ever is availablethe 4.6 is prefable b/c of the ease of the swap but if any body has any of the four motors please let me know 5.4 2v or 4v or the prefable 4.6 4v or 2v

Honestly, you can buy a fully prepped crate motor from Roush Racing for probably about 2000 bucks, then the tranny issue is another story though. If you look hard enough you can find a T5 or something for easily 1000. I'd say look around at some crate motors, like some 347s or Ford Racing engines. If your preference is EFI over carbed, well that's just dumb, because you can probably get a better deal on a carbed motor. Plus, getting a 5.4 out of a truck gives you less to work with than does a 4.6 2V. You could even get a 4.6 out of a wrecked GT for like 500, and get a nice trans out of the same car or aftermarket trans, then still have 1500 to 2000 to work wiht for needed upgrades and bolt on stuff. That'd be the best way to go. Aside from a crate engine, look at some totaled GTs that have been hit from behind or side with the motor and trans and rear still in good shape, you can get a great deal. Don't go buying too soon and waste your money till you've exhausted all the possibilities. Pick up some Summit Magazines or Mustang Enthusiast mags and look through the parts pages too for engine deals.

Yeah, what he said...
Check these guys out, they usually have anything you need, the only problem is you need to work the price on them...They seem to think everything they have is gold plated.

check out www.stangparts.com and im not sure but i think i read in either 5.0 super fords or mmff from that if you get a 5.4 that you will have some clearence problems with the hood. cause i believe the 4.6 is the same width as the 5.4 but the 5.4 is taller so if you decide to do the 5.4 you might need to do some modificationjs to the intake or get a cobra r hood. not exactly sure though but it worth finding out before you get the 5.4 and have to invest more money just trying to get it to fit in your mustang
