about 4:10's
I was talking to my friend... older guy like 45-50, and he said that if you put 4:10's on my mustang the braking will go to hell and you will probably beak your back end (IDK if he meant by braking too fast or what) ... he said AT THE MOST go 3.73's... any input from people that have 4:10's

RE: about 4:10's
Don't know what that guy is talking about but my 4.10s change nothing except for my acceleration. Its alot more pick up down low, though my top end suffered a bit. I would go 4.10s and I speak from experience.

4:10's it is then :D

RE: about 4:10's
thats cause back in the day when he was young they had differnt gear ratios, so 4.10s would be like 5.12s now a days, at 80mph you will be around 3k rpm, might even want to think aboot 4.30s;)

RE: about 4:10's
speaking of different gears, how much does the car suffer up top with 4.10's i want more acceleration but i dont want the top speed or the high end torque to suffer it already doesnt have that much power the faster i go in 4th so do they have a gear that is made for both top end and low end torque.

RE: about 4:10's
my car pulls hard even up top, unless your going 150 mph 4.10's arnt going to hurt your top end, this is another 4.10 myth along with gas mileage the one:D

RE: about 4:10's
The old dude has no clue. Back in the day cars did not have overdrive trannys, so yes with a 4 speed a 4.10 was a pretty steep gear if you wanted to drive on the highway very much. With a modern car there is no reason to not go with a 4.10.

RE: about 4:10's
+1 on everything everyone else said. Now onto the breakage issue. Don't worry about it unless you are driving a huge torgue monstor with alot of grip such as FI and slicks of some kind. That's where you might start to have those type of breakage issues. Below 350-400 RWHP you will be alright as long as you aren't brutal to your car.
