Default Need some help.. new to Mustang tuning

I just bought a 96 4.6 and I wanna do some mods to the exhaust but I'm extremely confused. I thought the best upgrade for a mustang gt engine is puting a 3 inches in diameter exhaust system but all they sell out there is 2.5"!!! what should I do go with the 2.5 or break my neck looking for 3"? Also what's the freakin difference between shorty headers and long ones, do they make ne performance difference at all or just the price?

shorties suck. lts flow probably twice as good as shorties. you also dont need 3inch exhaust. 2.5 is perfect. unless you were forced induction that is....

The only 3" exhaust I know that's out there for our cars is from MAC. You better have a ton of HP to support that though. Like 100th96Cobra was sayin, shorties aren't worth it. The only ones I've ever heard anyone getting gains from are JBA shorties. But, for the price you could get longtubes. The only reason to get shorties is if you have strict emmission laws.

Longtube headers Review,

5.0 Mustang and SF May 2004 issue. Tested Longtubes and Shorties. Hate to tell you guys, Unequal length shorties dynoed a little more gain than the Longtubes.

I never believe the mags. They've all sold out IMO.

Thats bull****!

Those arent the differences. The differences are in the RPm range your engine spends most time at and how you have it set up as well as your driving habits all factor in.

Shorties are better for upper RPM's and breathe better up top where as the long tubes make more torque down low and are well suited for making HP at lower RPM's.
