Air silencer is proven to dyno 4-5 more wrhp.

Removing the box won't really get you anything... You'll just have to cover it up when you wash the engine is all, don't expect power gains over removing the air silencer (that doesn't even really give anything).

RE: Removing the Resonating box??
Mustang& Fast Fords has the article on their web site where the first thing they did in a line of mods was to take off the silencer. They dynoed it 3 times per mod change and that mod averaged 2 RWHP. I took it off and cut the air box opening alittle bit bigger for the sound because being a 2 mustang family w/ 2 kids makes me a broke d**k. MONEY PRIORITIES

I don't care what anyone says. Removing the air silencer CAN'T improve horsepower. 4 hp@the wheels? Come on now! Not only is 4hp@the wheels crazy, but when you remove it, it makes you suck the engine bay air instead of the cooler air that is located about a foot further from the bay, and it's in the fender, uhm which is if I'm correct colder air??? Basically it's a stock cai and you're re-locating it to the engine bay. I dont' get it. I think it's something someone would like to "think that they are adding performance" and it makes em feel good to look at it and say "Hell, I just gave myself 5rwhp!" (Pat on the back)

RE: Removing the Resonating box??
IMO CAI's are a waste of money which can be spent on more worth while items (i.e. exhaust, gear). Yes cold air is better but unless you are installing a blower or something to that extent removing the air silencer is one of your best options. The volume of air you introduce is better then worrying about the cold air. +1 to SOHC I would much rather breathe more air then cold air through a straw. If I can find this article again I will post it but it states if you have the 2V motor as in the GT a CAI is pretty much not worth it, if you have a 3V or 4V motor then you will see a more significant increase in horsepower. So like I said before, waste of money when you can get the same effect as removing the air silencer.
