Default 2v or 4v

if you made 500rwhp on a 2v and 500rwhp on a 4v, what would be faster? does the 4v make it rev up faster or mainly let it make more power easier?

4V....no question. Alot less $$ to get 500HP from a 4V.

Neither, 1/4 mile times are 1/4 mile times... Hp/Dyno numbers don't mean anything... I've seen 700RWHP go 11's and 460RWHP cars go low 9's

with same hp numbers id have to go with the 4v it will have more intake and exhaust volume, considering same weight the 4v will have more torque most likely

If anything the 4v will have more rotating mass, but not much (two extra timing chains, two extra cams, 16 extra valves)... if they both have the same power, they will be close... a 4v engine just flows better.

I would say the 4v if you are comparing them in the same cars, because the 4v will make more torque.

However, if you are comparing a 500 HP 2v in a GT and a 500 HP 4v in a cobra it will be the GT every time.

Why so?

Why so?
Cobra has an IRS...

but I think it would be pretty close, the Cobra's factory suspension setup is for the corners... and they have bigger brakes, ect (more unsprung and sprung weight)... I couldn't just give it to either.

i didnt know that the timing chains & valves were considered rotating mass....

I was hoping someone to would mention a very obvious point. Torque curves. A 4v engine has a flatter torque curve than a 2V engine, therefore the 4V will be faster. Someone eluded to it by mentioned air volume exhange on 2v vs 4v, a very big side effect cause by this more efficient air/gas exchange is the the torque curve flattens. Meaning the available torque at any given RPM will be greater on the 4v vs the 2v.
