Default Transmission problems

Just the other night I started having problems shifting into 3rd. Now everytime i shift it will grind and eventually go in. But on the highways i can't get it to shift into either 4th or 5th. What is going on with this thing?? Is it the syncros?? Someone said that my fork might be bend?? I'm an engine guy so any help would be appreciated.

What year is the car?

Late 01-04 run a 3650 and are known to have syncro issues between 1-2. This cause grinding between shifts and often blocked out 3rd at high rpms. It is also not uncommon for this issue to destroy 4th and 5th gear if not addressed ( my 4 and 5 were chipping and the syncro was wearing)

The t45 also has syncro issues.

I am having close to the same problem. My car is hard to get into 1st gear and has a slight grind if I don't hit 3rd just right. I just had all of the bearings replaced along with a new clutch. Ford says the shift fork will break before it bends because the steel is brittle. Ford also says the syncros are fine but my car shifted fine before the work was done it just had bearing noises that drove me nuts so those a** holes are most likely idiots. Maybe it's your clutch. How many miles are on your car?

Have you power shifted alot or done lots of burnouts? I don't think it's the clutch so it most likely has to be the syncros. Damn Tremec 3650 POS.

Might be the clutch then. Try adjusting the clutch and see what happens.

Well if it's self adjusting i've already tried and still nothing. It's just a P.O.S.

Tremec 3650

Can't hurt to try draining the factory fill and replacing with 3.0L (3.2 quarts) of DEXRON III as per Tremec's recommendation of a few years ago.
