Default Price and HP from full bolt-ons?

What kinda HP would you expect to see from full bolt-ons (variables aside)? What would you expect to spend on full bolt-ons? Ya, I could price out everything.. But, I'm lookin for someone who has "been there, done that". Only reason I ask is because I have my eye on a s/c.

For the money go with the supercharger.

first of all you need to save for new rims.....LOL

but as for cash, it will take bout 8-10 grand to get your car in great condition for the sc

then a few grand more for the s/c, tune, etc.

Look at my mods, that all came to about 13k. I am going to do the bottom end eventually and thats about another 3500.

Sadly, I like the rims that are on my stang. I have trouble spending 800+ on rims when it could go twards a s/c or something. Tires and lowering the car are different.

If its going to be $13k for performance stuff, I would buy a crate motor before that would ever happen.

Part of that 13k was his KB (Kenne Bell blower).

Yeah for real. You can buy a 550 hp motor for like $9k....(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-6-M...54966305QQrdZ1) or a 700hp version for $12k (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-6-M...54965989QQrdZ1)

Anyway, to answer your question...

Basic bolt ons:
Full exhaust: $1000+
TB and Plenum: $300 - $400
CAI: $200
Tuner: $400
UDP: $150 - $200

So you have $2000 - $2500 in just the basic bolt ons. Then you can get, say, a P51 intake, at $1100. Then you can get cams ($600), new heads or headwork to existing heads($1000-$2000), and have close to $6000 in just "minor" mods. And be around 280-320 rwhp, depending on what options you choose, etc. Basically, for the money, a supercharger would be much more efficient for the money, but can also be the hardest to save for. I went the normal route, full bolt on with the cams and sc coming soon.....but if I had it to do again, I might go s/c then bolt ons.

Lets us know your progress. The way my car is setup I am at 400hp, detuned so I don't blow the engine. I could possibly get about 430 if I zero'ed it in, but I don't want to blow the engine up. Evenutally I will get the bottom end forged and find some more hp. The main problem I have though is get the power transfered from the car to the ground. To much HP can be worse than not enough. A really good driver can beat a guy with 100 more hp.

if i had to do it again, i would still take the bolt/on + internals approach.

if you shop smart, you can get a realistic 275-285 rwhp for about $2000, then, unfortunately, things start getting expensive.

a s/c, if you install it yourself will run you about $3500 brand new (vortech/paxton 6/7psi setup). you'll probably get 290 - 300 rwhp on a stock 99+ gt. every mod you make after will, of course, give you impressive gains. if you are into drag racing, this is the way to go.

i don't drag race. my goal was 275 rwhp (320 crank) and now i am beginning to spend the extra cash that i would have on the s/c on suspension mods. panhard bar / torque arm + goodies. i like to tinker with ****e, i like to build my car up over time, there's more satisfaction that way and in the end i will a very fun car to drive. to each his own.

Wait a minute that worry's me... The part where you said you were detuned so you dont blow the engine. I was gonna get a dyno tune soon but if it is bad for the engine i will think twice about it. Is that the case??

Thanks,
