Is either 3.73 or 4.10 gears worth investing in?

very worth investing in... most people will argue that those gears are the best bang for your buck.... they will also mostly say go with 4.10s... but i personally say 3.73s... its really depends on what u want and how much traction you have

Well, no ABS or traction control on my car. 4.10s will probably get a bit worse gas mileage, correct?

In top gear, at any given speed, you will running more rpms with 4.10's

Depends on how you drive. There are many techniques to get major gas mileage out of a 5 speed car.

One is accellerating very slow and easy into the gas. Another is accellerating slow but fast enough to start in 2nd gear, skip to 4th and then 5th. It's a matter of preference and a matter of how willing you are to spend $$ on gas or baby the car more when your not goofing around or racing than you would with 3.73's.

4.10's are optimal for our crappy geared trannies.

Personally, for the money you would spend on gears, I'd go with 4.10's if you plan on dragging your car. Many people will argue 4.10's are overkill, but 4.10's are equal to 3.73's in a Fox Body GT or LX 5.0 - yet nobody claims 3.73's are overkill in a Fox Body.

What most 'gear heads' forget is how a transmission is geared can greatly affect the outcome of a rear end gear swap. These are the people who read boxes or read how-to's and think they know everything, this would be why there is such a huge amount of rumors and misconceptions about modifications like such.

yea, like 200 more rpms at any given moment. Big deal. Get some DR's & then you'll have some serious hook up.

if you have the money for some wicked power, go cp pistons, manely rods, reichards racing intake and then go to induction concepts for their twin turbo kit. Rad is the man on big drivable power.

But if you want to go the easy route I would say Nitrous, or Saleen Series II supercharger or KB blower. I would not feel good about any form of real power with the composit intake that is on GT's
