Default $900 worth of repairs?

I have a buddy that works in a Ford Service Dept. All the parts are at the employee rate and labor will be done under the table. Could you please tell me if this sounds reasonable? Thanks in advance.

New front springs (apparently they are broke at the bottom)
Resurface rear rotors
New rear pads
One new ABS sensor
Mount and balance my new rims and tires (cost of actual rims and tires not included)
Alignment
New rear axel seals.

New front springs (apparently they are broke at the bottom) get lowering springs and install them yourself ($250)Resurface rear rotors (while you're doing the springs, send the rotors out to a shop ($7 each = $14)New rear pads (while you're doing your springs $35)
One new ABS sensor (while you're doing your springs (not sure on cost of sensor)
Mount and balance my new rims and tires (cost of actual rims and tires not included) (Have a shop do it for $35 for both)
Alignment ($60)
New rear axel seals. Have a shop do it ($150)
total cost $600 (guessing about 50 for the ABS sensor) mmm...or if you like, have the dealer do it all for your and have a better warranty in case something goes wrong.

I have to agree. Either do it yourself or have it done by a shop. If something goes wrong...do you trust this person enough to fix it for free???

I haven't seen the itimized list of costs yet. But it seemed a little high to me. All the labor will be done on the side for cash, so its not like they are charging me dealer labor rates.

Unfortunately I don't think I have the skills or tools required to handle fixing the springs on my own.

Last time I had 2 O2 sensors and a new rear swaybar put on for like $200. I might look into fixing the rotors and pads by myself. Thanks for your advice.

WTF? Am I the only one that's never heard of a broken sping as a normal maintinance thing? Did you get in an accident?

Skip the springs. Get yourself some lowering springs (steeda Sport Springs for example).

All you need are a jack, jackstands, spring compressors (like $10-15) and basic hand tools. Heck, there's even a writeup on it! Look it up in the stickies. VERY easy to do, and the four new lowering springs are probably cheaper than 2 new ford springs.
