get a catted h pipe with borla stingers. it would sound quite powerful like you're asking for.
he has a 98, they don't make stingers for the 98............ yeah, i know, and it pisses me off too! i love the sound of stingers

I have flowmaster catback and a catted h-pipe and I love the sound. It is definitly louder than before, but I do think it could be louder. If you're not worried about emissions definitly go with an off road h-pipe. Whenever I started my car up after installing the h-pipe, I couldn't believe the sound. I would definitly recommend getting an h-pipe.

O and to add to what I said...I personally think that the straight through mufflers(slp and magnapacks) give a very raspy sound along with x pipes...I don't know how true this is, but I think the sound you're looking for would be a deep growl with minimal rasp. I think flowmaster and an h-pipe would be your best bet.

I knew SLP didn't make them but I didn't know Borla didn't either...I don't get what's different between the 96 and 97 or why they don't make Stingers for 98s.

My 96 has a catted bassani x-pipe, flowmasters with turn downs instead of straight tips. it sounds pretty good. it has more of a low rumble to it.

if you've already got flows, and want it louder

just get a high flow catted pipe,, or go o/r

cheapter than getting a new catback, and then possibly still wanting it louder

I have flows with an O/R Xpipe with shorty headers and love it. I have been comparing exhaust like crazy trying to find a good alternative catback system, and the only one that comes close to my setup now is the SLP Loudmouth1 catback. Flows aren't as bad as everyone says they are. Just my opinion though, Everyone has thier own taste

[sm=icon_ladiesman.gif] I absolutely love the way my car sounds. I get so many complements. Off road bbk h pipe and 2 chamber flows are the only way to go!!

EDIT: a catback doesn't cut it. you need an aftermarket midpipe to really wake it up. o/r if you can get away with it
