Default exhaust leak ?

I think i have an exhaust leak on my car and cant seem to figure out what it is. It only seems to be leaking when the vehicle is in drive and at part to full throttle. the higher the rpms the louder and more rapid it gets. i had the car at a shop but they checked the car when it was in park. it seems to not be making the sound when in park but only in drive. what could it be?

After my X-pipe install I experienced a leak on the passenger side since I didn't replace the gasket. It sounded fine during idle but became apparent under acceleration, so I think I know what you are describing.

If you do have a leak, a competent mechanic will be able to find it.

i had a leak where my h-pipes connect after i replaced my original set (cats blew on first set).. but that was just because i didn't tighten it up enough. when i changed the oil the next time i simply tightened it all up real good, and no leak since then, as far as i know.

the moral of the story? make sure everything's tight

is the xpipe the only thing it could be, or could it be a manfild or header leak? or would that happen even when in park?

what have you done to your car?

if you didn't install headers, i doubt it could be them, since your vehicles come stock with exhaust manifolds. i highly doubt you'd randomly spring a leak from factory installed stuff, too, unles you took them off and put them back on for whatever reason.

if you've just installed an x-pipe and catback, it could be either the xpipe or catback.. or i suppose it could be where the x-pipe connects to the exhaust manifolds.

if you've only installed an x-pipe.. well.. then it's probably somewhere on the xpipe.

like i said for my leak, it was due to brackets not being tight enough.. i was simply tired and didn't use the impact wrench to button everything up properly, and the car was garaged at the time anyway, so i just waited until i put the car back on insurance and took her out for summer to tighten everything up.. after that, no leak.

personally, i could see the leak, because when i found it it was still cold outside, so when i first started the car up the exhaust fumes were visible steam.. i could see the steam puttering out of the leak, and hear it slightly (although it was hard, over the roar of my exhaust).
i could feel the leak, too, by putting my hand where the air was puffing out of the leak.
