Here in Kansas seeing as we have drastic weather [:@] I usually run with 5w-30 or even 10w-30 because of the hot summers and chilly as nuts winters....Plus Lucas stabalizer(sp)...I'm not having any problems with my Tropartic oil/Lucas synthetic blend....Filled it abit to much but thats it...

use 5w-20 like it says. your engine needs that weight oil because of tight tolerances between moving parts. heavier oil will not lubricate as well. ford didn't put 5w-20 on the filler cap for ****s and giggles.

I have a 1996 GT. Says in the Chilton's manual 6.4 quarts. I live in Alabama and the temps are already in the high 80's low 90's.

[sarcasm]Jeez.... never thought about that[/sarcasm]

I did change the oil filter. That is part of the normal oil change.

Yea, When I did my first oil change and saw the 5-20, I was like WTF, but after a little research, I found that it is actually kind of important to run the 5-20, I guess these motors do run very tight tolerances and thicker oils will not protect your motor as well, I would highly reccomend running 5-20 next time you change it, could mean the difference of a few thousand miles of engine life towards the end
