Yep, it's from the molding process.

Well, years ago when all headlights were "standard" ie, round/rectangular sealed beam units, they all had 3 little glass bump nubs on them too. They were what the shop would attach their headlight alignment tool onto in order to adjust the headlight aim.

Maybe that's what the new ones are for too?

Yea, those are for headlight alignment, but now most shops have a new type of head light tool that doesn’t need to mount on the headlight at all. Until everyone gets the new system, or its a requirement (it is in NH I believe at our shop) they are probably required to have the nubs, due to inspections laws.

If you are talking about the little fingers that are about 1/8 of a inch long, it is part of the molding process. These are called "runners", its where the plastic is injected into the mold.

Wow, you learn something new every day!

I would have also thought that they were from the molding process....

Interesting to know, now I'm gonna end up looking at every headlight I get close do dammit!

regardless of what they use em for it is part of the molding process as well. There are no other points for the runners or "drops" to come off that I have seen on most headlights

It probably has no function whatsoever, and was created to make people like you ask questions like that :-p Now in seriousness, it's probably something to do with the mold used to create the lens, just what I'd figure
damn I thought they were on the eclipse so when the ricers go to the dealership to buy it and they ask the salesman can pitch how the lens let's you drive freely without changing the halogen fluid...
I said it in that thread and I'll say it again...Halogens ARE fluids...
