I have an MGW and it took a little bit to get used to because it is spring loaded so you don't miss 3rd gear.... Now, I love the thing and wouldn't get a different shifter.

that little rubber boot can be stretched over the new shifter but it's not necessary.

I put it on with my '03 and it kept a bit of the noise down.

i think i will put the little boot on the new shifter. just to make sure nothing gets in there.
