i used to have the roush shifter and its pretty much the same as the steeda tri-ax. its really quite choppy actually. i felt the pro 5.0 that was really smooth. but i sold my roush and bought the mgw. its one of the best things i did. so much more comfortable with the 360 degree adjustable handle. the packageing was great. the shift it really shorter then most. its almost like a flick of the wrist and your in the next gear. id go with mgw.

I have the UPR short shifter, and i have the adjustable handle. So i can set it how i like it. I love it.
But then again everyone is gonna tell you to get the one they have...
But i have heard that Steeda makes a good one, and i have heard that the Pro 5.0 is a good one as well.
Best thing to do is find a friend or someone at a carshow that has one and ask to try it. Then see what you like.

I slapped the Pro 5.0 in mine. As mentioned before....made the driving experience much greater than before. Much more crisp, solid shifts. It's preference. I'm not all about the adjustments, you'll get used to it in a few trips no matter which one you choose.
Happy shifting...

I've had my MGW for over a year now. No problems at all. I love it.
To give you an idea of "shortness" of the throw: I have the old style red handle "Cruiser" which is not as short as the old Blue handle or the current orange handle version. My 1st-2nd shifter throw went from a measured 7 inches to just about 3.5 inches. It is more like flicking a toggle switch than shifting a lever. The orange handle must be sweet!
And yes the shifting effort is increased -- for about a week -- until the new shifter is worn in.
WiredAsylum -- very easy install. Did it in my driveway with just basic tools (screwdriver and a couple of sockets, I think) in about 30 minutes.
