Default Limp mode

Hi I am pretty new to theese forums
I have a 96 GT vert and I recently put flowmaster 40's on it, ever since then the check engine light has been coming on and off from time
to time. Is it true that when it is on I will have significantly less hp. Because I dont really notice any difference.

depends on what code its throwing but the odds are in the favor of a limp mode. Also, I highly doubt just the addition of the mufflers is causing your code to be thrown. Take it to an autozone and have them tell you what code it is and go from there.

I would agree. Your 40s should not trip the CEL. If you are doing exhaust, you should get MIL eliminators to stop the CEL.

Did you have them welded in? If so did you disconnect the battery, computer, coils, etc?

+1 on the welding, did you put in a X pipe? You need to know what code is being activated before you can fix the problem, other wise your playing craps.
