RE: 10K what mods?

well i really like my car and i like the stealthyness of it. so i want it to look really stock but be real mean under the hood!!

redass02gt 04-24-2006 09:12 PM

RE: 10K what mods?

pi swap and forced induction of some sort. and a bigass helmet.

03sonicgt 04-24-2006 09:13 PM

RE: 10K what mods?

Full bolt-ons, with a pi head, cam, and intake swap, with a supercharger. That would put you close to 10k.

i have been reading i would like to do a TT set up but i haven`t seen any 96-98 TT GT's.

a man after my own heart! good move on the stock looking car with some vroom vroom under the hood. my car looks completely stock, but when it's on, you can tell it isn't. so if you want it to sound stock even while on, get that PI swap and get some juice for it. that'll put you at about 2500 for the PI stuff and a nitrous kit with all the safety goodies and a flip chip with a nitrous tune. that leaves 7500 to get yourself full boltons. acer's 98 GT put down like 285RWHP or something with a basically untuned 98 GT with a PI headswap and full boltons (minus cams) and 4.30s. it was a mean lil ****. he could have probably gotten 300 out of it if he had it properly tuned.

RE: 10K what mods?

i`m looking for around 500hp thats why i`m talking to you guys about it. would i be better off to build a motor and leave in N/A for awhile of what.

Slick97gt 04-24-2006 09:21 PM

RE: 10K what mods?

sell your car and go for a 96-98 cobra, but if thats not the route you are wanting to go, I would go full bolt ons, nitrous, suspension, gears, wider rims/tires, then start saving for a built tranny/motor.

kyle87 04-24-2006 09:24 PM

RE: 10K what mods?

well i was also leaning towards a 03-04 cobra motor swap. i can get good hp from a pulley exhaust and a tune. i have heard of a few poeple swapping um but i don`t no how hard it is and i don`t no if a can find a shop to do it

red2k1gt 04-24-2006 09:28 PM

RE: 10K what mods?

might cost more than your available funds to do an 03/04 cobra engine swap the right way.

RE: 10K what mods?

Hehehe, thanks nanners, means a lot :D

ANyways, yes, nanaki's car is teh sleeperage tot he max. and MAN does that thing pull. My next fun car will be blown for sure. I'm surprised you advised he go with the juice? Anyways, here's what I would do (learn from my mistakes):

Two options:

Get a cheap used 4.6L block...mileage is not an issue. Find yourself a local machine shop that does autmotive work and has a good reputation. Get yourself a crank from a cobra (they come stock forged in some years) forged rods, and forged, dished/notched pistons. This will keep your compression low and allow you to run a lot of BOOST. Find a used supercharger somewhere (There's one for sale in the local club, vortech, custom intercooler, etc for like $1,800).

Granted, this is going to be VERY close to your 10k total and you'll still have work to do. 500rwhp will absolutely destroy your stock axles/t-45, but if you abby it you might be ok for a while.

Option #2 (more custom)

Buy a cheap 351w block...they can be had from just abotu anything, but mid-90's F-150's/250's with a ROLLER camshaft can be had cheap. Flat tappet is going to be the older ones, not what you want. Buy a tubular crossmember with 5.0 mounting points (summit sells them for $300 or so). Drop in a forged 408 sstroker kit (can be had for $1,000 + install) and slap nitrous/blower on it if you like. Strap on a C4 (those things are bullet proof when built right) and be done with it.

Wow i`m really liking the 351 i might have to start checking into stuff. thanks alot guys for all your help

RE: 10K what mods?

does a 5.0 motor really just drop in!?!?!? cuz I think I know where I can get one for really cheap

Acer2428 04-24-2006 09:40 PM

RE: 10K what mods?

No, you need the ECU for a 5.0 motor too. and your 3650 will not bolt up.

Spend ten grand in mods. You should invest in a good helmet HA HA

RE: 10K what mods?

full bolt ons, supercharger, and some internals... your looking at over 400 hp

Niteryder 04-24-2006 10:55 PM

RE: 10K what mods?

Iv seen some crate 4.6L motors online with 450+ hp (n/a) for $7k. I believe they have forged internals as well.

Just get an 03 cobra and be done with it

RE: 10K what mods?

you can find a 03/04 cobra motor for anywhere inbetween 6-9k. if you can find one on the lower end that comes with the ecu and wiring harness, along with the install will put you right around 10k. then you also have to worry about the tranny, so i'd say around 11-12k total.

RE: 10K what mods?

yeah i would just upgrade to a 99-04 GT or even trade in ur car with the 10K for a mach 1 or at least a 2001 or so cobra.

RE: 10K what mods?

pull the motor in favor of FRPP 351 or 460, they come from the manfuactuar with 350 to 550 horses.

RE: 10K what mods?

i would just buy a twin turbo kit for it that would be like 5g's i think and then get some forged internals and u'd be set

RE: 10K what mods?

Whatever you do to the engine, your going to have to upgrade the tranny and rear end. I would start at the rear and move forward. Your other option is to find a 96-98 Cobra and trade in your car with small down payment and own it free and clear. those cobras go for around 8-12k. Take the rest of the cash and add a blower with all the crap you need to get it running right and if you have any cash left over some control arms. You'll have a 400hp car.

pff, ten grand...all my parents did for me when I graduated was take me out to dinner. No matter what you decide, make sure you let your parents know how grateful you are. Ok enough sentimental crap, go get some boost!

used supercharger kit like a procharger or vortech (with aftercooler or a/a intercooler) and a built bottom end.

Dragon02GT 04-25-2006 02:31 PM

RE: 10K what mods?

Save it. Putting that money into your car is a wasted investment. Pay of some of the bills from college....

But if you really have to spend it, buy an 03-04 Cobra motor and drop it in. That motor will make you sh** yourself the first time you stomp on it.

RE: 10K what mods?

does it have to be spent on the car? seriously if i could turn back time id take my ten grand ive already spent, and invest towards a house or something. lucky bastard. crate motor+tk0600 or t56+suspension will spend ten grand no prob.

I'm going to punch you when I see you. HAHAH. Anyways, that makes no sense. 99-01's have the same crap ass T-45 and with $10k to spend, it makes no sense to buy a mroe expensive car for the PI motor when he should get headwork done anyways.

Just build your own 351. You can do it for under $10k easy and C4's are cheap. You'll need a new driveshaft (cheap) ECU (cheap) K-member (cheap) C4 (Cheap) and other random parts. If you don't have the money for a blower now, throw some juice on it to make up for the low compression.

If I was going to replace the motor in my stang, you couldn't pay me to put another 4.6 in it.
