I believe the E-brake adjustment is under the boot on the lever, there should be a 10mm adjusting nut on the cable end. The e-brake sucks because it is the natyre of the design. When you pull it, it mechanically squeezes down on the rotor, pinching and holding it. Now, the rotor is hot, right? Now the rotor cools down while sitting, and the rotor contracts and the pad looses it's grip. If you car is out of gear, it rolls down a hill, end of story. On newer designed ford vehicles the E-brake is in a little drum inside the back of the rotor hat, it uses little brake shoes, when this setup cools, the little drum contracts making it hold tighter.

By newer I'd hope you mean 05+ because that's not the way it works on my 04 GT... the parking brake cable just mechanically actuates the caliper. I haven't had a problem with the brake being lose after parking it overnight or something... the expansion/contraction is so minor.
on the 99-04 (and probably the sn95, too) there is a ratchet-type connector that keeps cable tension fairly constant despite stratching/contraction/expansion and all that stuff. I believe it automatically adjust each time you pull the brake lever, so you shouldn't have to do anything to it.

Interesting to note about the expansion/contraction deal and creep. I have a friend who is a Ford engineer. He said Ford knew of the deal with the E-brake because they would test their vehicles on a grade with the E-brake on, in neutral. They would invariably find the vehicle on the bottom of the hill in the morning, yet, till 2004 it is made the same way (anyone know how it works on an '05 plus). What is annoying is the E-brake in the hat has been on crown Vics since 1992, why would they use this POS system on the Mustang. One reason, cost, it must be cheaper.

well i got bored and didn't read most of the posts, but i know why your parking brake doesn't work. Because your a dumbass and you just said that you do 180s with the parking brake "are you retarded". Fix the parking brake and never do that again.

oh yeah just to let you know this had happen to me with my contour SVT. We got pulled over one time and i could've drive accordingly to the cop(i was apparently drunk) so my friend had to drive because he was the only one in the car that didn't blow anything. It was the first time hes ever drove stick(and i let NO ONE drive me car), but i had no choice because the cop was watching us. Well long story short he forgot to put the parking brake down when he took off and i felt the car jerking and i told him to stop braking he said he wasn't and that is when i smelted it. One day i had my car parked out of a gas on a little hill to get some cigs and when i came out my car rolled into a gas pump and almost caused some big problems. In the end it bent my rear axle and screwed my rear drivers side quarter panel.
