new gt or cobra engine
i just hit 100k and when the engine goes ive been planning on getting a new engine. at first it was another gt engine, 01 cobra enine, or 03,04 cobra enine but im not going to go with the 03,04 cobra engine cuz the cost so would i be better of to get another gt engine and s/c it or get a used 01 cobra eninge? i want 400-500 rwhp in that area. not sure where in that range of hp i want yet though. if its better to get another gt eninge im just going to mod this one some more but if not then ill just wait till it goes. not sure what to do
if i went with the cobra engine would my exhaust sound different?

RE: new gt or cobra engine
To get 400+ rwhp from a stock GT motor is running it at its limit. Either engine, I'd recommend forged internals. The Cobra has a forged crank and 4 cams and is rated at 320 stock, so I'd go with that one. You can still put a s/c on the stock Cobra and easily reach 400 rwhp without stressing the bottom end too much. Hell, with a KB @ 6 psi, you'd be well over 400 I'd think.
Don't forget, if you go s/c Cobra, you'll be pushing the gt transmission pretty hard, too.

im prob going to replace and upgrade everything as they go. i dont think ill sell this car cuz i wont really get anything for it so im just looking into all the options to find the best way to go so when the enigine and trans go ill be ready. i dont think id need over 450 rwhp so im not sure which one is best. and the gt eninge id forge if i went over like 425 rwhp. just curious but is it possible to get the gt block to hold up for 600 rwhp?

Not sure on what a built gt block will handle, but I think I read about a shop in GA that has over 700 rwhp from a 2V.
Take a look at vtengines.com or maybe ask code3gt about that.

find a 96-98 cobra motor with the teksid block.. Just need forged rods/pistons and a blower and your all set. already has the block and crank to handle way more then you'll put down.

Go with the N/A 4V! The crank is already forged right? So I guess you would have to get forged rods and pistons...would a stroker kit work well with a S/C? Also, why did ford use a forged crank? Isn't that the part of the rotating assembly you least worry about when adding forced induction?

would the exhuast sound different on the 4v? ive hear that some exhausts sound better on 2v's than 4v's and vice versa

RE: new gt or cobra engine
its what you worry about least when you do a sc... but its more important when you are looking at higher RPM's.. my car redlines at 6800.. fuel cutoff at 7k... thats why they did it.
sorry to be off topic but when you run at the track how do you launch that with the IRS? Isn't it faily weaker than the rear end axle on the GT's?
