Import....RX7 ftw. If not, tell him to get a nice fox body stang and build it up. Not sure what all can be had for 6-7k though.

mazda rx-7 is rwd,mid 80's toyota celica
hm didnt know that...I thought the older celicas were 4WD.

93-98 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC, 4.6 DOHC 290hp 290tq, very luxorious, air suspension, very fast, and a total sleeper. One in great condition can be had for about $8k.

I ran one of those on the street! I mistook it for the s/c Buick but now that I think about it, that's what it exactly looked like...a burgundy one. I beat him by about 2 or 3 carlengths but I was still surprised how well he kept up.

240s are cool.... only because there rear whelel drive. There pretty slow though. My buddy has one but he swapped out his engine w/ an RB20DET from japan. Now its a lil rocket.
sr20det u mean. rb is the skyline motor and not 2.0L. not the same. and its not a 240z its a 240sx if ur lookin for a newer one. If you are lookin for one get an s14 (the newer looking 240's). unless you wanna work on or swap motors. other than than that there isnt a whole lot of rwd cars in your price range other than what uve mentioned.

Tell him to look for a high mile sn cobra.. can be had for around his price range.
Also, look at the 90 and up C4 vettes.. 92 and up have the LT1, but anything past 90 you can get a 6 speed and the redone interior instead of the star wars style dash.

In order,

1.) LT1 Camaro
2.) LT1 Trans Am
3.) Fox body Mustang 5.0
4.) 96-98 Mustang and do a PI swap

DONT EVER get a BMW 3 series IMO, My dad had 3 of them a 328i, a 330i and his most recent is a M3 and a X3 SUV, the 328i and the 330i were absoloute crap, the electrical system fried several times and came up in German. We had a few engine problems on the 330i and the tranny went to crap on the 328i. And every time we had to fix anything it was big $$$. The M3 we had for 3 days and the engine pretty much blew, oil was shooting out...big big mess there, now were having tranny problems and its only an 03 and my Dad drives like an 80 year old and the car only has like 30k miles. The X3 SUV is the only thing that hasnt crapped out yet (but im patient it only has 10k miles) I have no idea why but my dad still buys them but I WOULD NEVER BUY A BMW product, it seems this is Germany's way at getting back at us for WWI & WWII. My dad laughed at me the day i bought a Ford....not 1 problem so far.....whos laughin now

I was in the same boat. I wanted to get a fixer-up and spend around $5000 cash so I'd not have to get sucked into car payments again.

I really wanted RWD, EFI (will never go back to a carb), manual tranny and an i6 or V8 engin, cold AC and no power anything (windows/seats/etc) .

I am partial to i6 engines for some reason.

I looked at older BMW 3 series, but got discouraged after a few months because everything I looked at was way too used up.

The old 280Z/ZX cars were too rusted.

My next choice was Mustang because I knew the 302 and 4.6 motors were troopers.

I'm very glad I went with the stang over BMW because I know the replacement part cost is way less.

I sometimes think it would have been better to get a 94 or 95 with 302 engine. Cheaper to MOD.

So maybe add 3.5 to your list... 94 - 95 SN95 (I'd suggest upgrading the tail lights because the horizontal ones don't look as good)

yeah i just thought of that too, I just worked a dealership over for a 95 5.0 for my buddy yesterday, they are also really nice, really cheep to mod and good lookers, MUCH better looking than Fox bodies IMO
