I am swapping in a cobra engine into my 96 gt... what is the difference in the years of cobra engines. is a 96 cobra engine the same as say 03?
i also want to change the tranny to manual.. what tranny should i get and how much will it cost for me to do this?

I dont think you know what you are getting yourself into. After you get all this stuff done, you could prolly get yourself a new 96-98 cobra or 99-04 gt. Switching engines is difficult and changing from auto to manual is just as hard if not harder. You will prolly have to get suspension work done too. And get a new computer. I wouldnt worry with this stuff and just trade your car in and and get yourself a manual 96-98 cobra. Just a thought. Good luck!

Engines swap are not hard. As long as you label all wiring and keep track of bolts your cool!

Yeah that sounds like a better option.... how much do 96-98 cobras go for? and how much would my gt get me towards that?

go to the kelly blue book website to see what you can get for trade in. And I'm not really sure what a 96-98 cobra will cost your, but you can search ebay and all the other online auto dealers. Good luck man. I will try to find some prices for you. ANd think of it this way, if you go with getting the cobra, you can say that you actually drive an authentic cobra, instead of a gt with a cobra engine in it.

theres a 98 Cobra with leather seats, and all the goodies near me , the guys askin 11,000 but its like brand new

Im looking for a 96-98 cobra engine at the moment. They go from 2k$ to 5k$ Stock. For me though all I need to get is wiring harness, engine, and ecu. Trans is direct fit and cobra uses same differental. But I wanna upgrade my axles to 31 spline and also get 3:73 gears and better posi.

Im going to keep the car a sohc but change the transmission to manual. The car is white with cobra rims and im going to put a cobra r wing on it. Black strips down it from bottom of front bumper to bottom of back bumper and across wing. You think that will look good?
