I paid 13K for my 04GT with 60,000 miles. It was all stock 40th anniversary edition red w/gray leather. Keep looking.

Could it be that the FACTORY Warranty runs out around 60k??

I think people figure that there on the boarder of there car not being worth anything so get rid of it now. I once had a dealer tell me that my 97 camaro with nearly 100k was not worth anything. And btw i bought my 99 GT vert for $12,000.00 with 60 k on it 2 years ago.

I've been looking at some stangs and they all seem to be selling around 50-60k miles, is this because there are major repairs just ahead? I'm looking at this 2000 GT for $12k w/ 69k, flomaster exhaust, leather, and a body kit... this is a bit above kbb i know but its in excellent condition. Any thoughts?

Like everyone has said, keep looking.

1. mileage is getting to the point where if it was beaten badly, it'll need some stuff soon
2. price is a bit high for the year/mileage

August 2004- 1999GT 5sp, stock, lthr, 48K 9500

look around, that was my goal until i found this car in the first magazine i looked at ..lol

Dude, i woulden't even worry about the milage. Make sure you get a tech to inspect the engine and drivetrain. If you get a pony at 100k the still run to 160,000. Buy an engine rebuild kit that will replace the gaskets, springs, bearing and your engine will be like new, but the block will be broken in.

I do say that if you do an engine rebuild kit, my guy told me might as well change the IM, CH and all. Polish the PH's and re sleve the CH's as well. Crank and cams too. You will get a huge boost in BHP and all your mods will also increase in power. Plus you are ready for a blower if you choose to go that route.

wow , a pound of blow , lucky you , i payed 13.5 for my 02 gt as well , but it has 25k miles , so i guess 10k miles less makes up for the blow

I also believe that the reason people sell at around 50-60k is that the car seems to depreciate rapidly after that (closer to 100k). I've seen mustangs on craigslist near 100k miles, good prices, looks clean.. but no one will touch them. I think there's this stigma that mustangs don't last much past 100k. Of course, this is true of most cars that are abused.. if you take care of your car, it could last you a lot, lot longer.

I bought my 99 gt vert with 55k miles for $11k. I do feel like I got ripped off, because I've had to change the brakes, going to have to change the tires soon, the top has a little rip, the body some little scratches I didn't notice. I was desperate for a car, fell in love with the color, and just bit.

If you have time, SHOP AROUND. You'll be happy you did, when you find the same/better car for a thousand or two (or three?) less.. Make sure you test drive it a few times, get a mechanic to check it out, and ask for maintenance records.

Best of LUCK! don't be lazy about it, shop around.. or you might just regret it later.
