skipping gears?

Lately i have been skipping gears while i drive. Somtimes i will go from 1st to 3rd than 5th when i am getting on the HWY skipping 2nd and 4th, and 1st, 2nd then 4th skipping 3rd when cruising through town. Does this have any effect on the car? Anyone else do this?

i skip gears all the time, its fine if your not straining your engine, when just cruising i will skip 1st and 3rd alot.

you will hear differnt responses about that one. i usually base it on which way im parked. if my nose is pointing out of the spot i put it in 1st and if im nose in i put it in reverse, purely for the reason if im not thinking and i just push the clutch in to start the car and then let it out i wont jump into the car in the spot in front of me or over the curb
