Default Need "Cobra Specific" debate on 3.73/4.10 (different redline/powerband)

I know what you're thinking, "Not another gear ratio debate...." Most of the advice offered up is GREAT but will the Cobra perform differently compared to the GT's with the different powerband and redline? Also, this is for a daily driven car as well. ANY info you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

You can go to a higher gear ratio b/c of the six speed, but I imagine your '01 still has the 3650 5-speed?

Cobras can put the lower gears (higher numerically) to be better use.

Yeah, it's the 5-speed. With the 4.10's I'm worried about the 2700-3000rpm's at 80MPH on the highway. The bassani x-pipe and Borla stingers are loud enough as it is.

I dont understand why people are concerned with their exhaust being too loud at highway cruising. I love my exhaust being loud when I'm cruising. I sometimes wish it was even louder. lol

Umm I dunno about that, I have flowmasters which supposedly make it the hardest and I can still listen to music quite easily. lol

Oh I love my car's loud sound, but I don't mean trips to the next town over, I meant anything 5 hours or more on 4.10s in 5th gear. So 3.73 or 4.10? Which would you prefer on a Cobra. Not sure which performs better with the defferent powerband in the Cobras. 4.30s are outta the question being a daily driven car that sees the track twice a year. I'm in it for the street race.

Most people around here tell all the GT guys to get 4.10s...a Cobra would need a smaller (numerically higher) gear even more then a GT considering its much higher redline and making its power all up top.

So should I be deciding between 4.10 or 4.30 instead. A blower isn't outta the question but it's not in the near future either so I'm leaning more towards the 4.10s now. How do they handle with regular street tires? Is it a myth about starting in 2nd gear (inner-city)with 4.10/4.30. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if it's B.S. or not.

Why do people keep modding there daily drivers??? What are you going to do if you break something? I baby the hell out of my truck, without it, I don't make any money. Sure, I love the cobra and beat the crap out of it whenever I can, but if I trash the drive train, big deal, sits in the garage for a couple weeks waiting for parts and I still go to work. sorry to rant, just my 00.02.
Anyways, if your going to sc, go 3.73's and no steeper. go 4.10 if your going to stay n/a. 4.10 and a SC and you will be on ice all the way through 3rd.
