Default Repair cost question:

Just found out that the seal on axle on the passenger rear is going bad.. had diff fluid all in the tire when we swapped them out. Probably going to get that seal replaced or do it myself if I can get to it by taking off the brakes.. anyone have an idea of how much that normaly rus in a shop? First thing to go wrong in the car Guess its not to big of a deal, caught it before it got to bad.

Completely sure the axle has to come out? It cant be reached by just removing the break assembly to get to it?

Alrighty, thanks man.

Axle rides in the center of the seal. So.. yep. May as well do some maint. on the rear if it needs it. Like a 4.30 tuneup.

i thought my carrier bearings were going bad just a couple of weeks ago cuz of this wierd noise i was getting from the rear axle, turned out it was just my tires. but anyways, i called all over the place getting prices on replacing carrier bearings and any of the other bearings for that matter, and every place i talked to told me they would have to take the axle out completely, and depending on how many bearings are messed up it started off around $180 up to almost $600 for all new bearings and pinion seals.

I just had everything in my carrier redone in January.. 4.10's, master bearing kit, new fluid.. just didnt get the rest of the bearings in the rear changed. Hopefully thats all it is.. if its my entire rear I am gonna be pisssssed off. Its not making any noises at all from the rear.. just leaking fluid.. so hopefully it'll be fine.
