Switch to Synthetic Oil?

Switch to Synthetic Oil?
Just registered here.. Bought a 2003 Grey GT 3 weeks ago as my '91 Firebird died. 15,000 miles on the clock. Anyways...
Thinking of switching to Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil. Any input? The manual says use 5W-20 Synthetic Blend only.
Few more questions, Figured as I change the oil, might throw in a K&N Air Filter. Are they worth it on these cars? Any power or sound increase? What kind of oil filters you guys run? I was thinking Mobil 1 or K&N. The manual is very adament about only using Motorcraft parts..

RE: Switch to Synthetic Oil?
I use mobil 1 5w20 and a motorcraft filter. Royal purple is real good too.
K&N air filter filter is worth it. Never need to buy another filter again. You wont notice a power increase though.
Enjoy your new stang.

RE: Switch to Synthetic Oil?
Thanks for the reply, I was also thinking about Royal Purple.. I work at an auto parts store and we dont sell 5W-20 Royal Purple so I'd figured I would use Mobil 1, Valvoline Synpower or Castrol Syntec

RE: Switch to Synthetic Oil?
definitely go with mobil 1. I would, but my engine burns oil and is high milage.
Mobil 1 is one of the best synthetics around (although I've heard GREAT things about royal purple)
and you can run a K&N filter. I run a WIX stock style filter and am very pleased.
I also run a WIX oil filter which is of good quality.
