doin a PI swap, wanna bounce around some ideas
Well today I took a vid clip of my exhaust (in process of uploading) and i found that I have significant blue startup smoke that goes away about 10 seconds after startup... tell tale sign of valve stem seals being toast. As I do not want to tear into my engine for just these freaking seals, i am looking into a PI swap. I do want to retain near stock compression ratio so I can run regular fuel, and be safer to run a blower at a later date. I am considering stage 1 camshafts while I'm at it, because I don't plan on running above 6000 rpm.
any input let me know, I figure I will need the manifold, the heads, an alternator bracket and the cams. I don't think I will need any additional wiring or that sort, but I will probably need a tune down the road. also I heard there is a sensor that I need to relocate (no big deal). Let me know what you guys think of this idea. Engine has 111000 miles on it and compression is good. Oil is goin out through the top end[:@] and I have heard the bottom ends can last 300k miles when properly cared for. All this work will be done by me as I can't afford $100+ per hour to have it done, and I'm da**ed capable of doing it myself.
anyone have an idea of what each part should/could cost me let me know too. I have tried the search and I'm not quite sure what to look for, thanks all in advance

Here's a good start. Redstanger also has a pretty good setup for sale on this board at a good price. this is a pretty good topic from this forum about a p.i. swap

with 100K on the engine I would see if I could find a complete PI setup from a wrecked GT in a junkyard. Have a totally new engine, and the compression would stay the same.
I think I am gonna try to sell my engine as a almost complete unit (intake, heads, cams, shortblock) if I end up getting a built one.

If you change the heads to pi, you'll be getting the 10:1 compression. Unless you change to forged internals with deeper dish pistons, better for supercharged.
Or rebuild the heads, springs, valves cams and get the heads ported.

may as well spray your motor before you swap it. Give it a 100 shot! if your do the swap, I would do the whole motor...........actually why not just put cams in now and change springs, while your changing the springs put on new valve seals! keep your motor. Hell its keeping the mosqito population down.......
