Default Help on MIL eliminators

Hey Guys.. I am new to this forum but I have been reading it for a long time!! I just have one question.. I have a 00GT 5speed and I instaled BBKlongtubes, BBK H-pipe(with Cats) and Borla Cat-back system. I was told that the Check engine light will not come on because I had Cats but it came on[:@] then when I took my car for Gas inspection It failed because of this Check engine light thing... I was just wondering if a MIL enliminator will solove this problem?? also I have a friend who has this computer that conects to the OB2 and he deleted the codes from my car and the light went off.. will I pass Gas inspection by doing this?? or should I get the MIL's??? Thanks for your help!!!!

I would try checking the O2 extensions .. I would guess you installed the O2 extensions during the headers install.

Check if those are bad.. sometimes bad 02 extensions are the problem and when you put good ones on there the check engine light should disappear. If not then you probably have to delete the codes or buy the MIL www.steeda.com

My friend experienced the same problem on his 02 Trans am. Changed the extension & deleted the codes and he was fine.

hope this helps [sm=smiley20.gif]

I instaled the O2 extensions... by the way my codes are PO420 PO421 that mean "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Limit, Bank No. 1 and No.2" I was told that this code is caused because the computer reads more air flow than normal exiting the cats... I just wanted to know if I can pass emmisions just deleting this code or I have to buy the MIL's.
Has anyone have this problem?? have any of you guys passed emmisions test using MILs? Thanks for your suggestions 2001SilverGT.....

Sometimes they do. Here in MD once I saw them using a mirror to check if you had the cats on. I DO have cats, I spent more money and got the on-road (street legal) H-pipe that comes with cats... That is why I dont understand Why I have codes..... Damn OBD2.. .

I know in Cali you'd still fail with LT headers. LT's are really street legal cuz the cats are further back. Hopefully MD isn't as strict. I've got the same setup except I've got magnapacks. I didn't get a code at all from them.

So, why do you think I am getting these codes?? could it be something else wrong with my exhaust system?? I was told that due to the extra air flow thru the cats the computer will read a malfunction.. but if this is true why you didnt get the same code?? do you have MIL's instaled??
