Top fuel superchargers run up to 73 psi on a roots system. As for the Centrafugals lagging, That's not exactly true. They don't start making boost until 3-4k rpm, but there is not blow off between gear changes, the supercharger keeps spinning. Someone with one can pop in to fill in the details.

Wrong. Belt driven are usually called blowers. They make Centrifugal superchargers now....
