Default Clutch and Flywheel?

My transmission has a problem coming out of fourth gear, I already have a shop setup to do the work and they said it will cost $500 in labor, but they will install a clutch and flywheel at no additional labor since they said most of the labor ocst is getting the transmission out on a table and back in again. I am really stressed for cash with this and I have decided I definitely want to go ahead and put in a clutch so I don't have to worry about it anytime soon. My question is, should I also buy a new flywheel? If so which one, I've looked into the Spec Lightweight flywheel, but I don't know if it's really necessary, or am I just going to be spending $250-300 that I won't even notice?

honestly just have the stock one resurfaced. getting a lighter weight one changes how your engine responds... just resurface the stock one (like $44 when I had it done) and put on the clutch of your choice

I'll try that, technically my stock clutch is fine right now so I couldn't imagine why the flywheel would be shot. I've just read that a lightweight flywheel can reduce drivetrain loss and free up as much as 10rwhp, for $250 thats not bad at all. Plus I'm sure thats more than the pullies and CAI gave me combined, which cost almost that.

I've got a Fidanza 13lb. aluminum flywheel and I love it. Lets the engine rev up quicker, and you reduce drivetrain loss. I could definately feel a difference.

not to jack the thread, but when u move to the lightweight flywheel dosent the car also drop the rpms a lot faster inbetween shifts? and wont it be harder to launch the car hard?

Why would it be harder to launch? Thats the kind of input I was looking for, Pros and Cons of a lightweight flywheel. I don't plan on getting ridiulous with my Mustang, I just want full bolt-ons, a few suspension upgrades and then Nitrous. I think a Spec stage 1 clutch will be perfect for that amount of power, but I don't know how much a lightweight flywheel will help, or if it will help at all.

DUnno about launching I dont launch on slicks or anything anyway. But I can tell you the RPMs do not fall fast in between shifts...especially if you know how to shift fast. lol The IAC I believe is what keeps them from falling fast in between shifts.
