Default Octane Help Please!!

Are there any negative effects of going to a higher octane? Like if I had 97 octane available, would it hurt my car in any way? In what ways would it help? Thanks

Big waste of money, that's all. If you advance your timing to the moon or have 12:1 compression ratio it may be of some use. Regular gas has more brut explosive power while high octane just retards the burning to keep your pistons from firing prematurely causing knock. Rule is: if your car runs fine without any knocking on 87 pump gas, don't waste your money on anything else......period!

higher octane is useless unless your timing is retarded or you have a built motor.

I'm running 91 now, with my predator advanced all the way. If I switch it down to 89, do you think it'll hurt? I've got just light mods... CAI T/B&Plen, o/r X, flowmasters, i had to take out the 24# FI, I just didn't have the power for them.
