I hope you guys are right. I've just always thought of 4.10's as a "drag strip" type of car. I just don't want my mustang to sit in the driveway and only be driven if I'm racing somebody. I also don't want to have to buy slicks just to keep it on the street. The only car I've ridden in with 4.10's was a 71 Camaro with a 400 small block chevy. That thing would not drive over like 50 without winding the engine out. It sounded like it was gonna blow up if you hit 60mph. I'd hate my car if it was anything like that Camaro was. I do have another car to drive, but I love driving my Mustang and I want to be able to drive it around town and on the highway if I want to.

Are 4.30's ok for a daily driver> Cuz if they are then that is prolly what I'm getting. Oh ya and do the 4.30's hurt your mpg?

Mustangtuning just stopped you from wasting your money on 3.73's.

To all the 3.73 lovers who are anti-4.10's must not spend much time at the track and realize how hard it is to get a NA 2v GT to perform and why it it's so important to have atleast a 4.10 gear. So any 3.73 owning 99+ driver can lick my ***** if they disagree about 4.10's or shorter.

What exactly do you want out of a n/a GT? High 12s on stock suspension isn't enough??

How much are you thinking a 4.10 gear will give you over a 3.73? I can guarentee you it won't be over a tenth or two.

I would not have wanted any more gear on my setup, espcially since my car does 99 percent of its milage on the highway. The combonation of 3.73s and the T-45 was more than enough. Nothing like taching 3000 RPM on the highway at 80 MPH and getting ****ty gas milage. Had I gone to 4.10s it would have been even worse. I felt guilty every time I set the cruise at 80 MPH.

I definatly don't want any more gear now.

Your right foot hurts your gas mileage more than the gears will.

My mileage isn't that bad with the T-45 and 3.73's.... I do also travel at 80mph and I can average around 23 mpg... I don't know how that's ****ty.

I was averaging 20 MPG on the highway (2 hours of straight highway driving to st louis with the cruise on) with the 3.73s. I was somewhere around 23 MPG beforehand.

The MPG isn't the only thing. I think 3000 RPM is a bit much to be turning the engine over a period of 2-3 hours straight.

I am not a "4.10 hater", but I do beileve that on a fairly modded setup with the t-45 you should stick with 3.73s. Had I had the newer transmission, I definatly would have gotten some 4.10s, and just lived with the increased traction problems in 1st and 2nd gear.

People are starting to recommend the 4.30 gear all of a sudden, and I just don't see how you get any traction at all. I had enough of a problem with my 3.73s and a N/A setup.

kind of a dumb question but, my 5 speed 02GT comes with the T-36 transmission right?

+1, I knew my mustang wouldn't get good gas milage when I bought it. Not only because the gas milage is sh*tty, just that I wouldn't be able to help myself from resisting the V8 power on demand

I had 4.10's and 4.30's.

Although, I speak from experience and not speculation like you are.

You can't 'see' how you can get traction, but when you learn to drive and actually spend the money to compensate for the gear, which we ALL KNOW a NA 2v needs allllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the help it can get.....

Obviously, you've never driven an equally modded car with 3.73's, 4.10's and 4.30's.

I have. [8D]

Edit: If you have driven driven a 3.73 and then a 4.10 car, you would see you left a TON of gear on the table. You can't guarentee that you won't see more than a tenth at the track... If you had a chance to drive, 2 equally modded cars, the only variance being the gears, you would laugh at the poor kid who's trying to get the most out of his car and chose 3.73's.

Since you hate shorty headers, let me put it to you like this. Getting 3.73's on a NA 2v GT is like choosing shorties over LT's.
