I never said it was a bad thing. I just don't understand how everybody says they peel the rubber right off of the rim and I can only get a chirp when racing. I mean I can rev up and drop it and spin until I let go, but when I actually TRY to get a good launch and run I only get a small chirp and I GO. Actually when shifting to 2nd I never let off the gas at all. Full throttle and change gears.

I guess this is what you guys would call power shifting???

I'm jealous, even my nitto drag radials will spin off the launch if I dump the clutch. And I have stock gearing.

I think he is just saying that he doesn't get tire spin when he dumps it in 2nd and 3rd. I would not expect him to have major traction problems in 2nd with decent tires and his current setup.

My drag raidals do not "burn off" in 2nd if I have them heated up either.

i would argue that the exact opposite

ive had my MT ET Street Radials on for a bit over 4K miles, and in that 3/4 of a year, ive become sooooo tired of traction, and bogging, that im swapping the DR's out to some rock hard sumitomo's that i can squeal and smoke to my hearts delight.

sure, the DR's are fun at the strip (even though i bogged at 3500 and managed a 2.05) but unless you race ALL THE TIME on the road, they are sort of boring,,not to mention kind of dangerous in the road(i suddenly got nearly sideways going about 50 in some water that had pooled up).

so if someone is willing to send me two 17x8 rims and about 300 dollars for tires, that'd be sweet

depends on the weather and road conditions too. if it is really cold and the road is also very cold, like in the middle of winter, i can spin until my brain hurts. but in the summer with a nice clean roadway and warm temps i get OK traction with my nittos that are almost bald.
