HAHA. I came back to find this post and i finally found it. Well, a 97 F-150 came into my dealership today and guess what codes i pulled. a po304 and a p1451. lol. So i did a fuel injector flow test and a power balance test to make sure it wasnt the injecters. So i replaced the plug wires and plugs. Runs like a charm. Well, getting into the p1451 is a pain in the ***! Its a 33 page diag. procedure. Nice huh. Well, the first thing i did was go for the fuel cap. I figured maybe this was an older guy maybe he forgot to put his gas cap on all the way once. Well, i took off the gas cap and put it back on and no codes yet. Maybe you have youreself a bad gas cap??? try the 9.00 part and see what happens. Put a new one on and erase the code and see if it comes back. If not im gonna come back after i finally figure out if the code comes back on this guys truck. I'll keep you updated

Thats funny. After thinking about it, I changed the plugs in it the day before the light came on. The only thing that I recall is that I had to loosen the fuel rail a little to get the spark plug socket on the passenger side closest to the fire wall plug. When I did that, it sprayed a little gas out of the injector. Think I might have broken it? Thats the only thing different.

OKay, now where is that? I looked under the hood, there is a black canister up against the firewall on the passenger side with a black steel tube going to it, and 2 other tubes coming out. There is also a connector on the top of it. Is this what you're talking about?
FYI I recently discovered what that is its a Vapor Management Valve or "VMV" Available only from ford currently about $50.I have a p1451 and a p0443 code. I replaced my gas caps O ring already. But supposibly that VMV can be opened and sprayed with some carb cleaner to get it to work again in some cases.
