Default Coolant in the cylinder??????

So my car was missing like crazy today, so me and my buddies changed the spark plugs thinking that maybe a tune up would help. Well we found coolant in the number 4 cylinder (last one on passenger side). My buddy thought I will be needing an intake manifold or gasket...anyone else had this happen or can give me some advice? Thanks

your manifold is ready to be replaced with the corrected part from ford. talk to your local dealer. and read the sticky thread about the manifold lawsuit.

Yeah I read about that lawsuit but I'm still a bit confused. It says if you had to have your manifold replaced prior to December 05 you could get reimbursed...but now it's May 06 and I just now need it replaced so I don't know if I'm covered or not....I sure hope so...

Ya if im correct theirs always been a problem with number 4 cylinder coolant hose goes right over it, might drip in to spark plug hole. ( if its a bad hose)

So that could mean it might just be a hose and not the whole manifold?

Yep. I might not be totally correct with the number cylinder but I know it happens to one of them. Just check it out.

definetly check the hoses, But if I understood the recall correctly if you haven't allready replaced your manifold you get like a 70,000mile warranty on it, or something. I got reimbersed for the $900 dollars I spent on replaceing mine. I'm pretty sure there is a warranty for those who have not replaced it. Talk to the dealership! Now I do not know all the specifics, but It must be for a '98 4.6L I believe.

The recall is 7 years or 70,000 miles. I got that directly from Ford. You can buy a new manifold for under 200. The labor is what costs a lot.

Hey thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate it. I went out and checked it out and sure enough I found coolant leaking out the bottom of that hose. Put on a new hose clamp and hopefully that will do it!
