Default Aluminum Drivelines? More HP?

I haven't heard too much about aluminum drivelines. That is, everybody talks about headers, S.C., K&N fillters ect. But not a lot of talk about these drivelines. Of course what I have heard is that by having an aluminum driveline you have less rotating weight and that frees up horse power. Well if so does anybody know how much? Is it worth the $400 it takes to buy one?

Aluminum driveshafts weigh on average about 7-9 pounds less than our stockers. This as you said reduces the rotating mass and frees up some of the power that is lost from the engine to the wheels. I have heard of people normally gaining between 3-6 horsepower on mild N/A engines and power adders (especially nitrous) see much higher gains. Also you can get these for around 220 shipped from Summit- so if you are looking to get every little bit of hp out of your 4.6 then I would say go for it. I will be putting one on when I install my safety loop.

Thanks a lot for the info. I like the picture of your Mach1 too. I regret now that I didn't get a Mach1 instead of a GT.

Its a good mod that is underlooked, along with weight reduciion, I think they help put more ponies to the ground.

I didn't notice any difference between my aluminum shaft and the stock one. I don't think it made any more RWHP either.

And they arn't 400 bucks...
