I have a friend here in town with a 2000 GT with Comp stage 2 cams, drag radials, CAI, plenum, and 3.73s and we had a few good races. Mind you that at this time I only had JLT RAI, PHP spacer, and magnaflow catback but I still beat him everytime. They were all close races as he would get a half car off the line, then by third I was putting ground on him. by 110 I had about 2-3 full cars on him. Dyno numbers at that time to ponder:
GT= 269
Me (mach)= 287

Now that I have 354hp he won't race anymore lol.

I would say a GT with approx. 270-280rwhp will give a STOCK mach a very good run for the money as most mach 1s are dynoing between 265-285 stock.

I'm not sure if this guy had any bolt on's or not. We were on the interstate with little traffic so we only got to come to a complete stop 1 time. We usually tried to slow down as much as possible without cars rear-ending us, usually around 15 or 20. We'd usually start off about even, he may have had me by a foot or two. We'd usually stay pretty even until about 80 and he'd pull on me until I was at his rear bumper. Then we'd stay even until about 115 when we had to slow down due to traffic. We did this probably 6 times. When we started from a dead stop it was pretty much the same thing. He did get a little better launch than I did though so in the end there was about a half a car length between us.

Get some stage 2 or 3 cams and a custom tune and the mach will have his hands full with your GT. Trust me, you will own stock mach 1's.

yeah but most stock mach 1's won't race because they are most likely owned by older people or people not into racing hence why it wouldn't be modded yet. its not fun saying you beat up on a stock car anyways. if you heavily mod your car like a GT and beat a mach 1 or ls1 what do you prove? its when you start hanging with the modded cars that makes you feel like you have accomplished something though that could just be me

Well if i can hang with or beat a stock mach 1 or WS6 which cost $5-10,000 dollars more than my car, and i only put $3000 extra into my car, then i am pretty happy. Now i realize mod for mod i stand no chance, but then again i new that when i bought a gt rather than a mach 1 or trans-am. that's just my opinion though.

Well I can tell you, if it's a black mach 1. Chances are it's a po-po here in Florida

That's a pretty good fight against the mach man. I wouldn't be too upset about it.

With the few mods i have, I'd be happy as hell to beat a mach.

I owned a Zinc Yellow Mach 1 before the h/c/i install by 5 cars w/my slow GT. He started it too, so it felt good[8D].

Nice death man. Considering those Machs run mid to low 13's, I'd say you did one hell of a job keeping up with it.
