How restrictive is the stock exhaust on 00-04 GT's? Its 2.5 Inch mandel bent true duals correct?. Are the exhaust manifolds more restrictive than the catback? Are headers wirth it to do with stock exhaust?

Only if you go with LONG TUBE headers, which you wouldn't be able to use the stock exhaust with. You would have to get shorties to fit with stock exhaust and shorties are basically shiny stock manifolds, completely worthless.

Therefore to answer your question, no.

And to do long tubes, it wont pass inspection correct because the cats need to be relocated?

Most states you will be fine with LTs, its just the o/r pipes with not cats that get the emissions roudy. Although some states a sticklers... So check your laws first.

agreed. a stock cat-back i mean sure why not. the only real loss would be not getting a killer sound but you need to start somewhere. to some mods come one at a time and headers is a good place to start with a nice new x-pipe. you'll def feel a difference and it will open up those stock mufflers a bit as well. i say go for it.

oh heres a little info. headers will run about $460 and a mid pipe about $180. install will be atleast $500. just something for you to chew on.

Mustangs are one of the rare cars that get stock "headers. they just don't look pretty.
Shorties will only make your car look better, tiny bit of sound, but no noticable performance. Waste of $300
Not to mention it'a a pain in the *** to put them on. You'd be surprised on how rusty bolts get in short a time
If you do, go with the long tube headers with an aftermarket midpipe w/cats. you can use your stock mufflers.

Really, wow I must not have taken these off my mustang then. Must have been my imaginary car that the manifolds came off of. I can't believe I spent $600 on headers when I already had them.

everyone bashes shorties but if you cant afford/dont want to pay the high price of installing LT's get Bassani midlengths. on a npi car they've showed 14whp increase. they install like shorties and you can use a regular midpipe and it will work with the stock one.

i had the bbk shorties with an o/r h-pipe and had noooo power. i think if i had gears it wouldve been ok but still it killed torque. i took them off and sold them. if i do it again im going l/t. i can get the bbk through my work for $411.00.
