I am torn between doing full bolt ons or buying a vortech with aftercooler that I can get used for a really good deal....For the same price I can get

75mm tb
Plenum
o/r midpipe
CAI
Shorty Headers
SHort Throw Shifter
Subframes
Sway bars
Strut tower brace
Hand held tuner....

I can either get all of this or the vortech with aftercooler....Only thing is that if I go with a supercharger I will have to get the injectors, MAF, and fuel pump which will run at least another $400 not to mention a tune...Installation costs won't matter much because I would do both things myself...If I went with the supercharger, I wouldn't be able to do all the other things for quite a while, and vice vera. What should I do? In my mind pros to supercharger is hp/money ratio is great. Pros to full bolt ons is reliability and less overall maintainence...Let me know what you all think...I am stuck...
dunno where people get this idea.....

BTW, go with the blower. Every time I think about it I wish I had gotten the blower first and moved on from there. Nothing compared to the blower install.

BTW, did you use your stock MAF and on your vortech setup? And what size injectors/fuel pump did you go with? If I go the supercharger route I may have some install questions for you if thats alright?

Also by reliability and maintenance I meant that like extra wear and tear on the drivetrain (rear end, clutch, tranny) and making sure nothing is having problems...

Thanks to all the replies...

just a thought but does it matter in what order u do the mods?

the mods increase power and torque by percentages, right?
if so then hypothetically if u had 300 standard just an example! but...

300 standard + 50% with s/c = 450
and if 5 bolton gave 10% each
then 450 + 50% with boltons =675

vs

300 standard and if 5 boltons give 10% each, 300 + 50% = 450
and 450 + 50% with s/c = 675

my point being that bolt-ons may not give great increases na but all is not lost!
i think that the sc will maximise the boltons anyway given that it is tuned correctly.
if all is not lost then think about it this way. wouldn't you rather get some good power so you can play a little bit? all the time and money you put into it to gain no where close to a supercharger. this way you can play and then add on bolt ons one at a time or whatever.instead of doing exhaust and you still getting your *** kicked by sti's, evo's, ls1's. then you doing cai, plenum and tb. you still get your *** kicked. that has no fun factor. i'd rather make my car a contender first then go from there.

nopropslaw... your car looks great... Superchargers seem to do the trick to a 4.6 , if i could find a used cheap one i'd buy it

If you can afford the supercharger and have the money right now, I would get the supercharger. The only reason I have decided to to full bolt-ons, cams and nitrous is because I don't have the patience to save up for the 5,000 dollar price tag of the blower. I also go to the track alot and it's fun to see what little mod makes a difference, thats just my opinion though.

Get the S/C first. Also, if you do get the S/C, you will want to ditch the shorties and get longtubes for more power.

if you do the bolt-ons first, the charger will be more satifying i think. more power with the charger-yes. more maitenance-yes. your choice but more power=charger, better sound and feel=bolt-on's then charger.

I too would get the S/C over the bolt-ons.
