Default Stock to 275/40 R17 Upgrade Question

What is the best all around tire that will give me good wear and a$$loads of traction for a good price? I was looking at some Nitto's, any other thoughts? They are going on the rear of a 2000 GT with stock 17" rims.

I have had great luck with my BFGoodrich gForce Sports. You can look up some reviews of those if you want, but they have fantastic dry traction, steering response, and tread wear.

...and why are you only getting rear tires?

2 tires are in good shape yet and I want a little wider tire on the back. The fronts are still the stock size.

You will be fine with the 275s in nitto. expect between 5 and 10k out of the rear tires depending on how you drive the car (burnouts etc).

I am very pleased with how my nittos have held up, and how well they hook for the milage I get out of them etc. Before the blower they were more than enough on the street. I am seeing some traction problems now, but thats to be expected

BTW, no regular tire will hook anything like a drag raidal.

I love my BFG G-force drag radials I got... They hook like mad.
if you have ever felt a drag radial or a slick.. you could see why they dont get much wear.. they are sooooo soft its nuts. Like a giant rubber band.

And normaly people do not get front tires to match their rear tires if they get drag radials... why would you put dr's on the front?

yeah even with super easy driving I would not expect to see much over 10k miles on the rear tires. I don't put many miles on the car though, so I get em to last almost a year or better at a time

You gotta pay for that traction somehow though. I think my nittos have a treadwear of 100 lol. The BFGs are only good for like 3 or 4k miles

I have BFG Sports, and I love them. They hook like mad, and I have had them on the car for at least 10k, and they still look brand new.
